Sylvester “Sly” Zimmerman a 62 year old Ansonia resident and husband of the late Martha Santiago, passed away Oct. 30 at Yale N.H. Hospital. He was born March 13, 1959 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to David Zimmerman Sr. of Sacramento, CA. and the late Mary Laney. In addition to his wife Martha and mother Mary, he was predeceased his son Willie Smith and his brother Troy. In addition to his father, he leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Sherri Cranford of Waterbury, Qiana Garris of Naugatuck
& Keisha Sanders of Ft. Worth, TX., his step son Jose Santiago of West Haven, sisters Carolyn Zimmerman of Ansonia & Deanna Hawkins of West Haven and his four brothers, William Zimmerman of West Haven, David Zimmerman Jr. of Middletown and Anthony & Keith Hawkins, both of New Haven. Survivors include a special cousin Edward Bostic, a special aunt Gayle Byrd of Ansonia, God Children Dominque Mills & Darrel Brown, both of Ansonia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 6 at 3:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, before the service begins. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
