Shirley A. Green, wife of the late Robert Green and lifelong Seymour resident, passed away May 31. She was born Dec. 7, 1934 in Derby, daughter of the late Harry “Cozy” Palmer and May A. Mantell Palmer. Shirley was a devoted longtime member of The Great Hill United Methodist Church in Seymour. She worked at UniRoyal Corp., until her first son was born. Later in life she worked in the cafeteria for Bungay School, as well as for Isaacson’s, both in Seymour. Shirley loved to bake; she enjoyed making more than needed so she could put together holiday trays for family and friends. After her husband’s passing, she was singularly devoted to her treasured grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons Gary Green (Anne) of South Windsor and Glenn Green (Nichole) of Seymour, grandchildren Cierra, Austen and Michael Green, and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her granddaughter Leah Meghan, brother Donald Palmer, her brothers-in-law Aaron Frey, William Green, Irving Greene, and Clarence “Honey” Greene and sisters-in-law Lucille Greene, Julia Greene, Carol Palmer, Mildred Frey and Grace Green. Friends may call on Thursday, June 2nd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at The Great Hill United Methodist Church, 225 Great Hill Rd. in Seymour. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to her church. The family would like to thank Nurse Carol, Social Worker Beverly Bryda and the aides who worked with her at Masonicare in Wallingford for their dedication to Shirley. They would also like to thank the nurses, the technicians and the doctor at The Hospital of Central Connecticut for the compassion, kindness and support Shirley received.
