Richard A. “Dickie” VanValkenburgh, a 90 year old Seymour resident and husband of the late Linda Lomme VanValkenburgh, passed away Sept. 12. He was born Aug. 14, 1935 in Danbury, son of the late Gilbert and Elle Storm VanValkenburgh. He was a proud warrior of The Schaghticoke Tribal Nation who loved to garden, to paint and to play bingo with his fellow residents at Shady knoll. He enjoyed trips to the casino, but most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his daughter. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Kelly VanValkenburgh and wife Susan of Seymour, “daughter” Rachael Allderige (Gerry) of Wethersfield, his brother Claude “Peanut” VanValkenburgh of Seymour, several nieces and nephews and the family dog, Sassy. He was predeceased by his son Brian, as well as 3 brothers & 6 sisters. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Burial follows in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before the service begins. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. of New England, 260 Cochituate Rd., #200, Framingham, MA. 01701.
