Matthew F. Gras, a 46 year old resident of Oxford, passed away April 15. He was born June 14, 1973 in Derby. Matthew graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Trumbull, as well as Siena College in Loudonville, New York. At Siena, he played for the Division I college basketball team, where he helped take the team to The N.I.T. in 1994. He was the CT Post player of the Year in 1991. He worked as a stock broker and Vice President for Wells Fargo in the N.Y. area.
Matt is survived by his daughter Chloe Gras, his mother Carolyn Damon Garofalo and her husband Vincent Jr., his brother Bryan Gras and his wife Kristen, his sister Nicole Jones, his dad Nelson "Spike" Jones, his wife Deborah, nephews Tyler and Evan Gras, grandmother Joan Mandela and several aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins. Matthew was predeceased by his uncle Larry Mandela.
Services celebrating the life of Matthew F. Gras will be held and will be announced. Donations in his memory may be made to The Chloe Gras Scholarship Fund, through Webster’s Bank. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, has been privileged with the arrangements.
