Mary Louise Mace Deptula 85, wife of the late Matthew Alan Deptula and lifelong resident of Ansonia passed away January 1, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. Mary Lou was born November 3, 1937 at Griffin Hospital, the daughter of the late Richard and Josephine (Mead) Mace. She graduated from Assumption School class of 1951 and Ansonia High School class of 1955. Mary Lou worked for many years at The Southern New England Telephone Company and years later was one of the first employees of the United Illuminating Credit Union. Mary Lou was a devout parishioner of the Assumption Church and an active participant within the Assumption School for many years. She was also a member of the Charter’s Hose Lady Auxiliary and board member of the Ansonia Historical Society. Mary Lou was an avid sports fan and loved her New York Yankees, UCONN Huskies and New York Giants. She was predeceased by her brothers Richard and Robert Mace. Mary Lou leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Mary E. Deptula of New Haven and Kathleen Ann Gonzalez of Ansonia as well as her son Matthew D. Deptula and wife Kathleen of Beacon Falls, Grandchildren Nicole McNamara, Marissa Gonzalez, Jacqueline Gonzalez, Matthew and Ryan Deptula, great grandchildren Landon Gonzalez and Leanna Green and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday Jan. 8, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 12 NOON at The Church of the Assumption, 61 N. Cliff St. Ansonia. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Church of Assumption.
