Maria (Klubek) Rut

Maria Rut, 81, of Derby, the beloved wife of the late Joseph Rut, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on April 1, 1941 in Kolbuszowa, Poland, daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Kret) Klubek. She immigrated to America as a young wife and mother and lived most of her life in her home on Derby Avenue. She was an avid parishioner of St. Michael’s Church in Derby and worked for Chromium Process for many years. She was a doting, selfless mother and grandmother who always put those she cared about first. Her green thumb was obvious from her always well-manicured yard and beautiful, flower-filled garden. Friends and family members were lit up by Maria’s infectious smile and warmth. She was an excellent cook who allowed nothing less than a very full plate. One of her many joys was sharing her famous pierogis during the holidays. Maria will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son Wesley Rut and brothers John, Joseph, Stanley and Richard Klubek, sister Christine Klubek and son-in-law Pierre Roberge. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Robert Rut (Jessica) and daughter Lucy Rut, grandchildren Nicole and Kyle Roberge and Gabriel and Joshua Rut, sisters Kathy Burek, Margaret Loman (Roger), Theresa Raytar (Robert), and Dorothy Schulke, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023 from The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Avenue, Derby. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
