Ligia Z. Albuja (Mema), 74 year old Ansonia resident and wife to Hector Albuja, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on July 16. She was born Dec. 27, 1948 in Otavalo, Ecuador, daughter of the late Carlos and Juana Franco Albuja. An avid bingo player, she worked as a seamstress for B & L Men’s Store and attended Holy Rosary Church. In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory her children Edgar Albuja (Deborah) of Old Lyme, CT., Geovana Guevara (Pedro) of Ansonia, Ricardo Albuja (Debbie) of Dracut, MA., and Rolando Albuja (Alice) of Melrose, MA., her brothers Edgar Albuja of Waterbury & Patricio Albuja of Derby, her 7 brothers and sisters residing in Ecuador, her dear friend Rosalba who was by her side until the end, 16 grandchildren, Mark Anthony, Jazmean, Monique, Amber, Jordan, Jesse, Julian, JoviSofia, Jacob, Jillian, Victoria, Zach, Isabel, Claire, Elaine, Genevieve, 4 great grandchildren Julius, Jonah, Jacob, & Leo, and close circle of bingo friends, including Martha, Carmen, Ana V., Rita, Tina & Sra. Olgita (deceased). Services of remembrance will be held on Sunday, 1:00 p.m. from The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Friends may call following the prayer services until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice Foundation of America.
