John E. Ewen, an 88 year old Seymour resident and husband to Elizabeth “Beth” Renker Ewen, passed away Oct. 13. He was born Sept. 29, 1934 in Washington, D.C., son of the late Theresa Stiber Ewen. A graduate of Ansonia High School Class of ’52, John served in the U. S. Navy for 4 years before marrying Beth in 1956. He worked in sales for The Brockway-Smith Co., was a member and former Captain of Fountain hose Fire Co. in Ansonia. He attended The First United Methodist Church of Ansonia. He was a devoted Ansonia H.S. football fan. You could always see him standing on the fence in the end zone, no matter the weather. His attendance was also assured for any sport his grandchildren were playing in. He was also an avid N.Y. Yankees and Giants fan. In addition to his wife, he leaves his son Christopher Ewen (Lucille) of MA., daughter Pamela Ellsworth of ME., and grandchildren Emily Ewen and Christa Ewen, both of MA., and Stefanie Ellsworth & Brandon Ellsworth, both of ME. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his brother Richard Ewen. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 12:30 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. before the service begins. Burial will be private. The family would like to thank the neighbors and friends who were always there to help.
