Joann Bartholomew Obituary

Joann Wheeler  Bartholomew, a 67 year old Guilford resident passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Apple Rehab after a brief fight with cancer.

Joann W. Bartholomew was born on November 28, 1957 in Bethany, Connecticut to Lorraine and Stanley Bartholomew. She grew up in Bethany along with her brother, Wayne and sister, Heather. Joann attended and graduated from Foundation High School in 1978. Joann enjoyed traveling and took several cross country trips with her family, including a train trip to Texas. As an adult Joann made several moves west and lived in Austin, Galveston and Weslaco Texas, before returning to Apple Rehab in Guilford, CT.

Joann was an avid crafter, and even noted in her High School yearbook, that she wanted to “create the world’s largest embroidery”. She created wonderful needlepoint works of art and colorful crocheted creations. Joann was a devout Baptist and avid reader of the Bible. She also loved animals, including many dogs, with Dakota always her favorite.

Joann is survived by brother Wayne Bartholomew ( Cynthia Staszak) of Charleston, Illinois and sister Heather Lombardi ( Michael) of Wallingford, CT. She also is survived by cousins Walter Parcinski, Stanley Parcinski, Betsey Parcinski-DiQuattro, David Wheeler, and Karen Bebble and four nephews and two nieces.

Donations in Joann’s memory may be made to one of her favorite organizations; the Austin Animal Center in Austin, TX, or the Church of New Life in Middlebury, CT.
