Jean Elizabeth Steeves, a 90 year old Derby
resident and wife of the late Marvin Steeves,
entered into eternal rest Dec. 5. She was born
Feb. 12, 1932 in Hartford Ct., daughter of the
late Armand and Mary Ethel Darby Sartirana.
After graduating from Gilbert High School in
Winsted, she attended WestConn and then
worked as a medical technician for 30 years at
the VA Hospital in West Haven. She was a
member of the National Assoc. of Retired
Federal Employees (N.A.R.F.E). Jean was an
active member of The First United Methodist
Church of Ansonia where she served on many
committees, taught Sunday School and
participated in Vacation Bible School. She was
a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and
served on the advisory board of The
International Order of Rainbow for Girls. For
over 20 years Jean volunteered at the Griffin
Hospital. Her greatest joy was spending time
with her family. She leaves three daughters
Nancy DeGennaro (Paul) and Karen Izzo
(John) all of Derby and Cynthia Klabonski
(Tony) of Sandy Hook. In addition she leaves
one brother, Armand Sartirana (Ginny) of
Torrington and daughter-in-law Connie
DeRosa-Steeves. She was blessed with 10
grandchildren Danielle (Jay), Sara (Steve),
Greg (Izabella), Michael (Tina), Megan (Enzo)
Pam (Joe), Tom (Nicole), Ashley (Zack),
Amanda (Ian), and Anthony (Samantha).
was further blessed with 17 great
grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she
was predeceased by her son William Steeves
and brother Donald Sartirana.
The family would like to extend a special thank
you to her faithful caregiver Margaret
Karbowski, for the professional and loving care
she gave to her.
Friends may call on Sunday at The Jenkins
King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St.
Ansonia from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral
services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m.

Franklin St. Ansonia. Burial will follow in Pine
Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in
her memory may be made to her church.
