Janet Ellen Evans Lekas, an 81 year old Seymour resident and wife of John Lekas, entered into eternal rest June 25 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 27, 1944 in Derby, daughter of the late Ernest and Maud Haslewood Evans. She worked as an administrator for Hoffman Fuel Inc. and taught First Grade Sunday School. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ansonia and volunteered at The Derby Historical Society. She was an avid traveler, especially making crafts and memories with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband John, she leaves to cherish her memory her son John Ernest Lekas (Candice) of Southbury and her daughter Heather Burke (Brad) of Beacon Falls, as well as the love of her life, her grandchildren Alana Wilson, and Ocean & Xander Lekas, and step-grandchildren Addison, Aidan & Liam Burke. Friends may call on Monday June 29 at 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. from The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 30 at 10:00 a.m. from Christ Episcopal Church in Ansonia. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
