Jane (Donovan) Regan

Jane Donovan Regan of Shelton, CT, age 97, passed away peacefully on September 14th.  Jane was born on June 26, 1928 in New Haven, CT, the daughter of Dennis J. Donovan and Doris Keiran Donovan of Seymour.  A graduate of Seymour High School 1945 and 1949 graduate of New Haven State Teachers College (BA), she taught for four decades in the Oxford and Ansonia public school systems. For many years Jane taught third grade at the Georgianna Peck School in the Ansonia neighborhood where she raised her four children. She loved the Peck School community. Jane also enjoyed shopping and Friday dinners with her life-long friends; she never drove a car, instead walking to school every day—a woman of healthy habits who always said desserts didn’t count.  Jane often advised her children, "Be kind ...everyone is fighting some battle you know nothing about." As a single parent, she saw all her children through college even if she had to swat them with the Evening Sentinel newspaper to get them up some mornings. Jane was predeceased by three brothers - John, Timothy, and William Donovan.  She is survived by her four children - Denise Regan (Chris Burke) of Salem, MA, David Regan (Shan Zhong) of Normal, IL, Daniel Regan (Doreen Brown-Wade) of Trumbull, CT, and John Regan (Jamie Goldberg) of Foxboro, MA. along with six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The family would like to thank the truly remarkable staff of The Bishop Wicke Rehabilitation Center.   Calling hours are Friday September 19th from 5pm to 7pm in the Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin Street Ansonia, CT.  Interment at Mount Saint Peter Cemetery's St Peter Shrine section in Derby, CT will be at 10am Saturday September 20th . Friends may also greet the family at the funeral home 8:30am - 9:30 on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers Jane requested that you read a book and consider a donation to Proud Academy https://proudacademyct.org/donate/
