Donald F. Rivers, 69 years old of Derby, husband to Diane Bucchino Rivers, entered into eternal rest in the comfort of his home May 27, 2024. He was born Dec. 29, 1954 in Worcester, MA. Son of the late Frederick Rivers and late Doris Keyes Rivers, Donald was predeceased by his brother David P. Rivers. A graduate of Emmett O’Brien High School’s carpentry program in Ansonia, he last worked as a truck driver for Oates Brothers Trucking of Beacon Falls. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Oxford. He especially enjoyed traveling the state to his sons’ soccer games. He loved to spend time fishing, hunting and boating at the family cottage on Big Pond in Otis, MA, and on the many summer family vacations to lakes in the northeast. In addition to his wife, he leaves his sons Daniel (Deanna) Rivers and his cherished granddaughter Tessa Jeanne Rivers of Southbury; and Matthew Rivers (Geeta Kadam) of Stratford; his siblings John Rivers, James Rivers (Suzanne), Lisa Rivers and Thomas Rivers; sister-in-law Marjorie Rivers; nine nephews & nieces and two great-nephews & nieces. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Special thanks to the nurses, aides and staff of VITAS Hospice and to all his caregivers, especially Tambria.
