Donald F. Kierol, of Seymour, CT., passed away November 26, 2023 at Griffin Hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1938 in Derby, son of the late Frank and Adele Friar Kierol. He was predeceased by his wife Linda Ball Kierol. He leaves his daughters Patricia Kierol of Naugatuck & Laura Andrews of Seymour, and his loving companion of 24 years Frances Zielinski of Derby; grandchildren Jason Andrews of Seymour, Clarisse Stradtman of Torrington, and Gabriel Stradtman of Bantam; as well as his extended family, Jeffrey, Holly, and Jessica Krzeminski, Kathryn Krzeminski, & Christopher Krzeminski and Colleen Stradtman. He was predeceased by Gregory Zielinski.
Don graduated as salutatorian from Pine High School in Ansonia. He retired as a General Foreman from Pop Fasteners, later Black & Decker. He was a founding member of Seymour Ambulance, served as a supernumerary policeman in Seymour, and was a volunteer for over 40 years at Citizen’s Engine Company (C2) in Seymour. Don was extremely proud to have served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, retiring as Chief Petty Officer at USCG Station New Haven after 30 years of service. Friends may call on Friday Dec. 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 10:00 a.m. with friends asked to go directly to Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 West Church St. Seymour. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Citizen’s Engine Co. #2 or to the Blessing Pantry at Trinity Episcopal Church, Seymour.
