Charline Lane passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, with her family by her side, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply.
She was born on September 4, 1933, the only child of Henry and Delina Chartrand Begley. Charline graduated from Ansonia High School and Quinnipiac University. She later met her husband, Joseph G. Lane, while working at a bank. They were married for 62 years.
Charline was a devoted mother to Susan Malloy of Derby, Connecticut; William Lane of Ansonia, Connecticut; and Stephen Lane of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was also a proud grandmother to her grandson, Edward (Teddy) Malloy. In addition, she is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph and her son-in-law, Edward (Ted) Malloy.
Charline enjoyed working at the Ansonia Library and volunteering at local school libraries when her children and grandson were young. She valued education, family, and community, and she gave her time quietly and generously. She will be remembered for her kindness, steadiness, and dedication to her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Jan. 30 at 11:00 a.m. from The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia before the funeral leaves for church.
