Andrew Sandowich

Andrew Sandowich an 87 year old Naugatuck resident and husband to the late Rosalie Sandowich, entered into eternal rest Aug. 29 at Yale N.H. Hospital after a two week battle with Covid 19. He was the son of the late Samuel and Mary Sandowich.  Andrew graduated from Ansonia’s Pine High School. He proudly served in the Navy on the U.S.S. English. He would go on to retire from Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford after 42 years. He coached Little League baseball, as well as the church Softball team. He loved watching the UCONN Girls Basketball games, as well as Boston Red Sox games with David & Jonathan. He loved Marisol’s baking sweets and going out to lunch with Gary & Glen to Lenny & Joe's Fishtail and for breakfast with Linda. He loved vacationing with his family at Hampton Beach New Hampshire as well as Disney World. He served the LORD as Sunday School Superintendent, in the Church Bus Ministry and as a Deacon. He was a member of The Grace Baptist Church in Milford, where he was an avid singer in the church choir. Andrew was predeceased by his sister Helen Loman and brothers Paul & Pete Sandowich. Andrew was a devoted father, father-in-law and grandfather; he loved spending time with his family. He was the beloved father of Linda Watrous (David) of Derby, and Gary & Glen Sandowich, both of Naugatuck. He cherished his grandchildren Jonathan Watrous and Marisol Watrous of Derby as well as his faithful dog Trevor. Survivors also include sister-in-law Bev Dilly and other sisters-in-law, nieces & nephews. Memorial services will be held on Saturday Sept. 11 at The Grace Baptist Church in Milford at 11:00 a.m. where military honors will be rendered. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia has been privileged with the arrangements.
