Alice M. Karkoski (Kolakowski)
Alice M. Karkoski, a lifelong resident of Ansonia before moving to Naugatuck ten years ago, passed away peacefully at home under the care of her loving family on Saturday, July 29th, 15 days short of her 97th birthday. She was the wife of the late Edward E. Karkoski (Kolakowski). She was born August 13, 1926 at home, the daughter of the late David and Mary (Yankowski) Heaphy. She graduated from Assumption School and Ansonia High, and was a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption. She had a wonderful singing voice and before marriage, sang in a band performing at various city venues. She worked at H.C. Cook Co. in Ansonia until starting a family. She LOVED to cook and bake. Friends of her children would come to the house in hopes of scoring some of her homemade food. She loved doing housework, especially ironing including sheets and pillowcases. She enjoyed watching sports, The Patriots…Tom Brady, all UCONN basketball, the Army Navy Football Game, and most recently the Tampa Bay Buccaneers…Tom Brady. Yes, she loved Tom Brady. And her favorite shows, Wheel of Fortune, Grey’s Anatomy, Shark Tank, Hawaii Five O, The Bachelor, CPTV cooking shows and QVC…shoes, clothes and anything food related.
